Beaverdale Farmers Market and Cheese 101

I've been a little unimaginative with my meals lately.  I had tacos for breakfast, lunch and dinner yesterday... Apple pie has been my go-to snack. (I'm not proud of that). And roasted vegetables and biscuits are getting me through today.
Tomorrow is FINALLY pay day and I can venture out into the unknown.  I might wander over to Tallgrass again and see what they have.
I also have a whole chicken in my freezer that is starting to cluck at me when I get ice cubes.
This week, I went to the Beaverdale Farmers Market.  I don't love the Downtown Farmers Market because, as a late night worker, 7 am is EARLY.  I get there around 9 or 10 and it's PACKED.  The Beaverdale market was much less crowded and I saw some familiar faces.  I obviously won't stop going to the Downtown market to pick up my CSA, but I will be back to the Beaverdale area for some mid-week grabs.

After the market, I went to the Cheese Shop with some girlfriends for Cheese 101.
This is the second time I've been to this class, and it never disappoints.  If you have $30 and a Tuesday night free, give them a call.  They do the class once a month and it usually fills up quickly.

We got 7 different types of cheese and quite a few glasses of wine. That's a great dinner right there!

Well, hopefully I can branch out a little this week and find some fresh recipes.  Wish me luck!

  1. If you can get local Greek yogurt, peanut butter, honey and cinnamon, I suggest you try the peanut butter fruit dip I posted today. Makes for one FANTASTIC snack! Good luck lady!!

    1. HOW did I miss that?? I saved the recipe for the burger the other day. You've been posting like a maniac! I might venture into the world of making yogurt... so greek yogurt might be the next step.

  2. I'm still enjoying your blog immensely! Thanks for posting the tortilla recipe! Do you like omelets? You can put about anything in them, maybe some local goat cheese and stuff from your CSA. Also, HyVee has tomatoes grown in Carrol Iowa...I think they are called Grady's?? You could do homemade pasta and homemade spaghetti sauce. Or maybe a baked lasagna with some homemade ricotta! 1. I meant to tweet you and tell you the tortilla recipe was posted especially for you. I have always been terrible at omelets... I can't get them flipped. A non-stick pan is on my 100 days wish list. The tomatoes I got at the Beaverdale were the Grady's tomatoes! Good idea on the lasagna. Maybe some veggie lasagna. You have my wheels turning.
